Using Compass Downloader with VM101

Must have Compass 1.5.8.74 or earlier and a Honeywell Vista Series controls that supports Internet upload/download via ECP (see below). For newer revision panels that are not listed in 1.5.8.74 you will need to run the latest version of Compass and then run 1.5.8.74 to be able to use the VM101 The newer versions of Compass will not work until you run the 1.5.8.74 .

You can download the .74 upgrade here. You must already have Compass downloaded on your computer to use this upgrade. If you don't have the standard Compass software, you can get it from www.alarmtechonline.com.

Section 1.1: Edit Customer Details

On the main Compass software screen, select the customer whose details you wish to edit or click Add Customer to set up a account for your system. If this is the first time using Compass with your panel make sure the account number matches the same account number you put in your panel when you set up your VM101. You can leave the receiver number blank or put anything you want in there.

When you have selected the customer, click the 'Detail' button located within the 'Customer Options' panel located near the bottom right of the application.

This brings up the details window. If this is the first time using Compass then select the panel type. Other wise the only field that needs to be edited is the one labeled 'MAC Address' in the 'Network Device' panel.

You can get your device's MAC address in 1 of 2 ways. The first way would be to copy it from the label on the box that your BAT shipped in.

Type this set of colon (:) separated numbers into the 'MAC Address' input box without the colons (:).

Log into your account and then click Contacts then click on the Friendly Name

Once you have edited the 'MAC Address' field, save by clicking the 'OK' button on the bottom right of the window.

Section 1.2: Modem Setup

The modem setup needs to be edited on the customer who you wish to use the Compass software with. Start off by double clicking the customer from the table on the main screen.

This will bring up the *EDIT* screen. Click the 'Communications!' menu item.

This will bring up a new screen. Now click the 'File' menu followed by the 'Modem setup' sub-item.

This brings up the modem setup screen. Make sure the modem drop down menu is set to 'None' and set the 'AlarmNet-i Website' field to 'CS.BATNOC.COM'.

Once you have done this, click the 'OK' button to save these settings.

Section 1.3: Connecting

After performing the modem setup you can connect to the panel by clicking the 'Connect' button located near the top left corner of the window.

This will pop up a dialog asking you for more information. Simply make sure the 'AlarmNet-i' check button is selected and press the 'Connect' button.

NOTE: If it is the first time connecting with Compass then select First Time Communications and if you already set up a account number in the panel such as 0000 then make sure the account number is the same as what you programmed in and check Acct # in Panel.
